Hotel Rwanda

What caused two tribes of people who lived in peace for hundreds of years to build up hatred for one another? What reasons do they describe for their dislike,How is the hatred spread? How do they justify the horrible things they do?-Because of the Belgian's that came down to colonize Rwanda. After that happened the Rwandian people were kept in the same tribes they were in before the colonization known as the Tutsis and Hutus. The Tutsis were the people that the Belgians liked more, because they were taller and had smaller noses.(looked more like white people). and the Hutus were treated as the lower class persons. And when the Belgians pulled out the Tutsis kept there higher class ways. Hutus on the other hand started hating the Tutsis for thinking they were better then them. And just waited to make an uprising And did :C. The Hutus were just thinking that they needed to be eliminated.(because they were
"cockroaches"

What similarities from other countries or historical events do you see?
- You can also see this type of... behavior from the Nazi army in WW2. The Nazis rounded up Jews,Blacks,Gays and other types that they disliked in Europe. There are a whole bunch of similarities here by the mass killing of a certain group of people, and one group thinking that they are better then one another.
or North Korea millions have died due to starvation (or insufficient necessities) because the North Korean government doesn't help with the aid of their peoples. Just like the way the governments though-out this conflict were. Also the propaganda used in the movie with the radio "cut the tall trees". Korea also does this but making the people there all think that Kim Jong 1 is the leader of everything.

What sort of reaction do you have to watching the film?
- I don't need to say its terrible thing and should never happen... because it shouldn't EVER happen.
My reaction was why do these people need to fight I know that they have their differences but people should never need to resort to mass killings like this

Changes in paragraphs 1 and 2

PART 2 What really started the Rwanda Genocide APRIL 25th

- What really caused the genocide was that people didn't have a proper education. The people had no idea what they were doing was wrong. They were told "This is right, those people are bad kill them, they think they're better then you" and it sparked rage within the group of people. Also people are easily made to hate another group just because they have been told by a leader that "they have done wrong". this ties into what i said about North Korea because said leaders are putting out propaganda to show the people that others are trying to make your way of life end. They also have a leader telling his people that they should fight another group (ie USA) because they are the bad guy.

  4. Love that you went back and revised your work. Lack of education makes propaganda much more effective... combine that with a sense of being undervalued or bullied for generations and you have a perfect mixing pot for violence. Does that remind you of anything at school? Great job Alex.
